Coaching

The success of our program is driven by the level of commitment and support delivered by our coaches and parent volunteers. You will enjoy being an important part of this strong, local organization!

We are always looking for quality youth football coaches and assistant coaches who have a desire to give back to the game of football.

Applications, criminal background checks and child abuse clearances are required for all football coaches and assistant coaches. Greeley Pop Warner's  background check program is handled though Verified Volunteers.

Upon approval, each coach and assistant coach will receive a League ID Card with photo to wear at all games.

Coaching Responsibilities:

Provide an enjoyable experience. Sports should be fun. Even if nothing else is accomplished, make certain your players have fun.

Provide a safe experience. You are responsible for planning and teaching activities in such a way that the progression between activities minimizes risks. Teach basic skills.

In becoming a coach, you take on the role of educator. You must teach all of your players the fundamental skills and strategies necessary for success in the sport of football.

Time dedication, character and integrity are a must. Football experience is preferred for the older teams, but not required for the younger teams or for assistant coaches.

Heads Up Footballâ„  is the new standard for football leagues that can be achieved through implementing USA Football’s organizational membership program highly focused on four key areas:

  • Coach Education

  • Heads Up Tackling

  • Concussion Awareness

  • Equipment Fitting

Greeley Pop Warner pays for USA Football's Coaching Education Program certification for all Coaches. As a member, coaches have access to multiple resources including online courses, playbook software, drills library, as well as practice planners.

We have many coaching opportunities available!!

Volunteer

Parent Participation is Mandatory.

As an entirely volunteer-run organization, Greeley Pop Warner provides an experience that is not just for the players, but for the entire family.

Parents are included in every aspect of our program — they are on our Board and many are involved as coaches, team parents, fundraising, marketing and more. We are a community and it has always been our belief that the more a family participates, the more fulfilling the experience is for their child.

Because volunteers are an essential part of making our program a success, we require that parents actively be involved with the program or with their team. There are many different fun ways to volunteer your assistance!

During the season, each family must volunteer at least a minimum of:

4 hours per registered player.

We highly recommend that you help more if you can!

Volunteer Opportunities

As soon as we receive our game schedule for the season, we will have the parent volunteer schedule for:

Team Parent

Concession Stand

Score Board & Game Clock Operator

"Chain Gang" (assistants to the linesman)

Game Day Set-up (morning of games)

Post-Game Tear Down (after games)

Fundraising Committee

Business Sponsorship Committee

Sign up for positions and times that are convenient for your schedule and family requirements.  If you do not sign up to volunteer, you may be assigned time slots for home game days. It is your responsibility to check the schedule and ensure that you attend your shift.

Note that for game day scheduling, we recommend you take a shift for the time slot before or after your child’s game so you do not miss them playing.  Most parents arrive early to bring their child for warm-ups, so it’s a great way to get your service in and not miss any of the fun!
